On 24th September 2017 Jonathan Addy is taking part in the Hull Marathon – his first venture at this distance!
Asked why he was challenging himself to run the 26.2 miles Jonathan said “Earlier this year my Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer. HER Breast Friends provided incredible help and encouragement during and after her treatment and were a constant source of support during the most testing and difficult times.
I know this helped my Grandma immensely and made her journey to recovery more manageable. It is an honour to raise funds for this fantastic cause in recognition and gratitude for the help and encouragement your gift bag gave her and so that others may benefit from this first-class service in the future. Knowing how much others have shared her experience, cared and understood was an enormous support and help. My Grandma is an inspirational woman and is the wisest person I know, who has always supported her family unconditionally. This challenge gives me the opportunity to give a small amount back to her and others who find themselves in a similar situation.”
Jonathan’s Grandma first heard about HER Breast Friends when she received one of our free Patient Gift Packs in Castle Hill Hospital after her breast surgery.
Training is going well with Jonathan currently up to 20-mile long runs whilst raising money through sponsorship of his endeavours. If you would like to support Jonathan please click here. Jonathan will be wearing one of our T shirts on the day so please give him lots of support and encouragement along the 26.2 mile route if you see him!
Wow we think you and your Grandma are amazing people Jonathan and wish you all the very best with your training and epic challenge – Thank you!
